NEW YORK, March 20, 2000 -- This year, the National MS Society will be the beneficiary of a third party event conducted by Nick Irons entitled, "Going the Distance." In 1998, Nick Irons received national television and magazine attention when he swam the entire length of the Mississippi River as a tribute to his father, a physician with multiple sclerosis.
In 2000, Nick will again use his remarkable skills and determination to raise awareness of multiple sclerosis as he sets out to bicycle the perimeter of the United States - approximately 10,000 miles!
Nick will kick off "Going the Distance" on April 3, 2000 in his hometown of Washington, DC, and expects to complete the event five months later.
